Sojourn II: The Shape of a Day
A collection of 24 abstract phantom landscapes that reflect each hour of the day.
Avant Garde Gallery is pleased to present Sojourn II: The Shape of a Day, a solo exhibition by Ethel Voronkova. This new body of work features 24 abstract phantom landscapes, each representing an hour within a single day. Together, they trace the quiet evolution of light, mood, and consciousness—an exploration of how time itself shapes perception. More on this collection will be shared soon.
About the Artist:
Ethel Voronkova’s studio practice is driven by an exploration of the subconscious through stylized abstraction. Working primarily with acrylics on raw canvas, she creates dreamscapes that evoke the ephemeral nature of thought and memory. Through fluid landscapes and layered forms, her work captures fleeting moments where reality bends into the intangible—spaces that feel both familiar and otherworldly. She explores how colour and form can hold the essence of something elusive, offering a glimpse into the transient terrain of dreams.
Originally from the Philippines and now based in Brantford, Ontario, Voronkova studied Fine Art at Centennial College. She has exhibited widely across Ontario, including at Arta Gallery, Hamilton City Hall, the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, and the Orillia Museum of Art and History. Her work is represented by the Art Gallery of Hamilton and Arta Gallery, and is held in private collections throughout North America and Europe.
